This is a story that could have had a really bad ending if it weren’t for the jewelry repair services offered to me by the jeweler where I bought my engagement ring. Luckily, I was smart enough to know that I was clumsy and just might need something like that.
After I had bought the ring but before the big day came for me to get on bended knee, I went to visit a couple of friends one evening. They both knew what my plans were and they were eager to see the ring. I wondered if there was a superstition about showing to ring to anyone before you proposed, but not finding any, I gladly took it to their house. It was a cold winter night (is there any other kind in New England) and as I left they warned me to be careful on the icy sidewalks. No sooner did I tell them I’d be fine, I slipped and fell. Luckily the ring broke my fall. Unluckily, I broke the ring.
The next day I returned to the jeweler and sheepishly explained what had happened. He laughed with me (or maybe at me) took the broken ring and told me not to worry. The next day when I returned I could see why I had nothing to worry about. The ring looked as good as new, and I knew that opting for the jewelry repair services had been the smartest thing I’d done in a long time.
